Only three glow worms have been described in Australia, endemic to Queensland is the Arachnocampa flava glow worm. In Mount Tamborine and Springbrook National Park this species can be found in the wild in the evening. However through a conservation initiative a purpose-built cave guarantees you to see thousands of these glowing worms during the day which is truly a sight to behold. During a 30-minute tour, you will be led by a biologist down through a rainforest boardwalk into the glow worm habitat. Here you get the chance to meet a glow worm up close, and see their sticky strands and glowing bums! Additionally learn about the life cycle and behaviour of these unique critters. Admission fee goes towards supporting and ensuring the survival of the species here in South-East Queensland.
To get to the cave is very easy as it is all boardwalked and since it is not a natural cave there is no strenuous movement involved, it is suitabe for all ages and fitness levels. Tailored Queensland can provide a day tour to mount tamborine or just to the glow worm caves, if you are interested simply add this activity to Your Trip and submit your enquiry. It takes about 45-minutes to get to Mount Tamborine and the glow worms from Brisbane and Gold Coast, so it is perfect for a day tour to get out and amongst one of the oldest rainforests in the world.
The Glow Worm Cave is located on the Cedar Creek Winery Estate which provides a great opportunity for winery tour and lunch.
