Australia is known for it’s exceptional coffee and cafe culture, with Brisbane being no exception. First we’ll take you for a walking tour in South bank, where you can grab a coffee or a light breakfast as we have a big lunch planned. South Bank is a cultural hub in Brisbane, situated on the Brisbane River, it’s here you find museums, art exhibitions, theatre and more. However it also offers some stunning river views, lovely parklands and a popular local man-made beach right in the heart of Brisbane.
Next you will be whisked away to your private helicopter, your guide will say goodbye for now as you are taken on a scenic flight over Moreton Bay just off the coast of Brisbane. Your flight will provide amazing views of the Bay and Stradbroke island, before circling back to land at Sirromet Winery situated in a beautiful, rolling hill country-side estate in Brisbane. Here you will taste local wines accompanied by a wonderful lunch. It is not uncommon to spot wild wallabies and kangaroo’s hopping in between the vines here. This is one of our favourite locations and you will see why. After lunch you will be reunited with your guide to continue your getaway, after the wine it’s probably lucky we are the ones driving.
In the afternoon your guide will drop you back off at your hotel, to recover from any lingering jet-lag or food induced comatose states. You can utilise this independent time to explore the inner Brisbane City or just relax. All our clients are provided with pre-arrival documents to take advantage of and included in this complimentary package is self-guided walks for any of the areas you stay at.
At night we will take you to dinner situated on the banks of the Brisbane River, with marvellous views of the lit Story Bridge and river activities.
Getting away from Brisbane, your guide will collect you at your leisure from your accommodation in the morning, and we will start the day with a typical Australian brunch at one of our favourite spots. Afterwards we’re heading south towards the Gold Coast but first we will call in to Mount Tamborine, located within the Gold Coast hinterland.
Explore a network of nature trails throughout Mount Tamborine National Park as you walk past Australian gumtrees, thundering waterfalls and spectacular views. Here you will visit a glow worm cave with thousands of native worms in their protected environment. Afterwards visit the rainforest canopy on a self-guided walk 1.5km (about a mile) walk, 30m (100 ft) above the ground. In Mount Tamborine we can organise another delicious winerie lunch, just a drink or if you are still full from earlier we can skip it all together.
From Mount Tamborine we will continue to the Gold Coast where we will let you get settled into your new hotel. As you look out from your hotel you will instantly realise where the Gold Coast gets its name. We will collect you in the evening for your chosen dinner location, here the nightlife is rife with many activities. Perhaps a Dinner and a Show where you journey to the heartland of Australia, the outback. Utilising a transformative arena and highly trained horses, immerse yourself in the story of two struggling ‘Aussie’ farmers. Alternatively, if you would prefer something with a bit more risqué comedy, another cabaret-esque dinner and show option is Dracula’s, an equally excellent option but not very child friendly.
The Gold Coast is lucky enough to be home to the migration route for Humpback Wales, in the morning you will be taken on a whale watching tour off the coast for a near guaranteed sighting of these gentle giants in their natural habitat. If you’re lucky you may spot Australia’s elusive, yet most famous whale, Migaloo, the all-white humpback whale.
In the afternoon we are getting you away from the not so nice crowded tourist beaches, heading to local hot spots where you can paddleboard / SUP, kayak or get amongst the locals and learn to surf. But if that’s not your cup of tea, you can just relax by the beach and take in the splendour.
For sunset you will feel as if you are flying again, as you head up to The SkyPoint Observation Deck. This 360-degree observation deck is on the 77th floor of a Gold Coast skyscraper, it is the only beachside observation deck in Australia. This observation deck provides unparalleled views of the Pacific Ocean and the endless gold coastline from where the Gold Coast gets its name.
Because we are completely bespoke this is highly dependant on what activities you choose and whether we are arranging your accommodation for you.
If we haven’t seen much of the native Australian animals yet, today’s your guarantee as we visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, with rescued Koalas, Kangaroos and more. Spend as much time as you like here, but once you think you have cuddled enough koalas and fed enough kangaroos we have still so much to see.
Continuing south in our journey we will cross the border into New South Wales heading towards the famous Byron Bay. Along the way we can visit lovely local markets, distilleries or the beautiful towns that would be missed by any other tour. You could spend five days alone visiting all the individual towns, all of which offer a completely different atmosphere and their distinct cultural vibe. After we show you a favourite or two, we’ll continue our journey to Byron Bay.
Byron Bay is a coastal town on the most eastern-point of Australia, a year-round travel destination known for it’s spectacular beaches, amazing hinterland, vibrant community and laid-back vibe. We will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon, once you are settled in we will leave you to your own devices. Explore the town, visit the beach but if you would prefer a tour of the area, that can always be arranged. Byron Bay is also a mindful & spiritual place, with an abundance of spa, yoga and meditation experiences available.
With plenty of delicious food options available, dinner will be a difficult choice, as always our guides will provide recommendations of our favourite spots. Afterwards, if you are interested, our guides will also happily point out where you can catch some live music for a late night boogie.
An early rise for your last day, but for good reason, as you will be taken for a magnificent sunrise hot air balloon flight over the New South Wales country-side. Floating gently above the lush green rolling hills of Byron Bay’s hinterland, this unique experience is absolutely breath-taking, with splendid diverse views of the country, gorgeous beaches and Mount Warning the lingering remnant of a historic volcano.
Once you land you will have breakfast in the country-side, after which, depending on your departure flight times from Brisbane, you’re guide will collect you and begin your return to Brisbane for your departure. Otherwise we will return to your accommodation for a few more hours to explore Byron, the laid back and free spirited attitude of the town will make you want to stay forever. Alas, holidays must always come to an end, and once you’re ready your guide will take you back to Brisbane for your departure.
Think you need longer to explore everything? No problem, construct your own itinerary with help from your personal guide with a tour length that suits you.
