People surfing at Byron Bay Beach New South Wales

Byron Bay is a beautiful beach town on Australia’s most eastern point, renown for its laid back vibe. Making it a popular tourist destination for domestic and international tourists alike. The main strip has many charming beach-side restaurants and boutique shopping stores that you can spend the day exploring. With so much to do whether it’s kayaking with whales, hang gliding above whales, a sunrise hot air balloon ride or a brewery tour, this small beach town has a lot to offer.

In your pre-arrival documents we provide you with helpful tips, recommended cafes/restaurants and self guided walks you can do in every area you visit. So to start your first day we will leave you to your own devices. Whether you want to learn to surf, paddleboard, relax on the beach or go for a walk, it’s up to you. We highly recommend doing the Cape Byron walking track, an easy meander that takes you to Captain Cook lookout, The Pass, Wategos Beach and Cape Byron Lighthouse. Just under 4 kilometres in length (2.5 miles) this walk provides beautiful lookouts and takes you to the lighthouse which is a must see when visiting Byron.

The surrounds of Byron are filled with beautiful ancient rainforests that are part of the Gondwana Rainforests, these rainforests are home to many great lookouts and swimming holes. This afternoon your guide will take you to one of these spots at Minyon Falls. Minyon Falls has a lookout and a walking trail that leads to a beautiful swimming hole at the base of the 100m (330 ft) high waterfall. The lookout at the top of the waterfall provides a view of the cascading flow into the deep gorge 100m below. On clear days the view allows you to see the coast. Taking a dip at the swimming hole is a great opportunity but is a bit of a hike. Suitable for anyone with moderate fitness it is 4 kilometre (2.5 miles) one-way. If this is an activity you are interested in, your guide can organise a picnic for you at the falls.

After an eventful day you may just want to relax after a nice dinner at one of the places recommended by your guide. If not, Byron has a very lively nightlife, plenty of cocktails and live music on offer.

Departure day already! Depending on what time your depature flight is, there is still plenty you could add into Your Trip. If you haven’t already, take a look at what else is on offer in Byron Bay, and see what you could fit in on your last day.

For this trip we assume you are departing in the late afternoon. So you will have the morning to pack and get things ready for your flight. When you are ready your guide will start the drive back to the Gold Coast Airport. If you have time for lunch, before you cross the border back into Queensland you can visit the Husk Farm Distillery. A relatively new addition to the area, Husk Farm Distillery has been a huge hit with the locals, offering fantastic lunches and cocktails on their beautiful farm. Husk Distillery specialise in rum and gin and if you’re a fan of either spirit, trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

Once finished, with a bottle in hand, your driver will take you to the airport for your flight.
